Licata belongs to the province Agrigenti and has 42.000 inhabitants. Because of its port, the town has gained significance as a reloading point and emporium. Licata possesses some chemical plants; furthermore sulphur is exported from here. The town blossomed because of the brisk bargain.
There are some beautiful beaches for swimming in Licata and its surrounding. Sights in the town are a museum in the town hall, the Chiesa Madre, a church built in the 16th century as well as the Castello Sant’ Angelo.
