Gela on Sicily

Gela belongs to the province Caltanisetta and has ca. 77.000 inhabitants. At times of the Greeks Gela was very important and was considered to be one of the most important colonies. Unfortunately, not much of the time survived until today. Today, derricks and refineries coin the appearance of the town. After the discovery of petroleum, the petroleum industry has impressed its stamp on Gela.
