In Marinella di Selinunte, a small village at Sicily’s south west coast, you can find one of the most beautiful archaeological sites on Sicily. Selinunte at first was a Greek settlement which was situated in the frontier area to regions once settled by the Carthages. In the year 409 BC the town was nearly completely destroyed by the Carthages after a long time of peaceful coexistence: earthquakes and the time were extinguishing the village nearly completely. In the year 1925 only, the treasures of Selinunte were dug out again by scientists and were partly reconstructed. So, one of the most beautiful archaeological sites on Sicily developed. The temples are just given numbers as a name, which was not really the best idea as it is not very mysterious to talk about temple 0, nevertheless this site is really worth to see.
