Vandals and Ostrogoths in Sicily

440 AD: In the time of the time of the emigration of nations tribes migrated in whole Europe. One of these tribes was the Vandals, ruled by king Geiseric. It is said, that they originally came from Norway or Poland. From there they migrated to Spain, to northern parts of Africa to conquer the roman provinces. From Africa they fell into Sicily.

Some decades later the island fell to the Ostrogoths, a German tribe, ruled by king Theodoric the Great. In the year 493 AD the Ostrogoths controlled the whole Italian peninsula and all of Sicily. They ruled Sicily until a Byzantine general conquered it in 535.
