Acquaviva Platani:
Acquaviva Platini has got its name because of the plenty of spring water, which can be found in this area, and the adjacency to the river Platani. The region was already colonialised during the period of the Saracen reign in Sicily, but the today’s village was only founded in 1635. In Acquaviva Platani the Church del Pugatorio and the 17th century Church Madonna della Luca are a must-see.  more...

Bompensiere is the smallest township of Caltanissetta and is located in a beautiful hilly landscape on the slope of the Monte Marrobio. The parish church Santissimo Crocifisso is the main attraction here.  more...

Butera:
The town Butera was colonialised already in prehistoric times and offers sights from several eras. So there are a couple of necropolises from the 7th till the 2nd century before Christ as well as ruins of a castle, which stems from the Arabian period. The little town Delia was founded in the 17th century and offers several unmissable churches as well as an antique castle. As Gela was founded already about 689 before Christ by people of Rhodes and Crete, the town offers a lot of historic and religious attractions. So there are several archaeological excavations, where you can view, besides others, an acropolis, hot springs and a necropolis. Marianopoli:
The township Marianopoli was founded during the 18th century and is especially known for its archaeological excavations and the archaeological museum, where you can look for instance at prehistoric exhibits. In the area of archaeological excavations of the Monte Castellazzo there you can find a necropolis and an acropolis.  more...

Mazzarino:
In the town Mazzarino there are many impressive religious and cultural buildings. Most of them originate from the 17th and 18th century. You can find 25 churches among those buildings. Another attraction is the castle, which is located close to the town and supposedly stems from the Norman-Byzantine period.  more...

Milena:
The town Milena is independent since 1923 and is a result of the amalgamation of the villages San Biagio and Milocca. You shouldn’t miss to see the hall of antiquities “Arturo Petix” with findings from the Neolithic period until today as well as the parish church of the town.  more...

Montedoro:
The little town Montedoro lies on the foot of the Monte Croce near the river Gallo d’Oro and was founded in 1635 by the Duke Diego Aragona Tagliavia. The main attraction is the parish church, which stems from the time of the formation of the township and was enlarged during the 18th century.  more...

Mussomeli:
The picturesque Mussomeli lies on the peak of a hill and is characterised above all by its snug lanes and close together built houses. A must-see, beside others, is a visit of the white stone built Santuario della Madonna dei Miracoli from the 16th century. Apart from this, not far from the town there is a beautiful village with old stone houses, called Castronuovo di Sicilia.  more...

The town Niscemi is situated on a hill between the Monti Iblei and the Monti Erei with a wide view over the plain Gela, which can be indulged best from Belvedere. The township Resuttano was founded in 1927 by Guiseppe di Napoli and ruled by his descendants until 1812. The 18th century parish church belongs to the sights. Also do the Chiesa delle Anime Sante, the ruins of an antique castle as well as signs of old colonies.  more...

The town Riesi was established in 1647. Old colonies originate probably from yet older, i.e., prehistoric times. Riesi offers a lot of cultural sights, such as the Basilica of the Madonna della Catena and the Church San Giuseppe from the 19th century.  more...

San Cataldo:
The township San Cataldo was founded in 1607 by Nicolò Galletti and lived for a long time on sulphur and salt mines. Beside several churches, the Piazza dei Eroi with its memorial for war victims as well as an archaeological excavation of an old colony from the Bronze Age are worth seeing.  more...

Santa Caterina Villarmosa:
On the beautiful slopes of the hill S. Anna there is the town Santa Caterina Villarmosa with its most important religious building, the parish church, which was built in 1717. Above all the township is famous for its artful knitting and crochet works.  more...

Serradifalco lies on the Plateau of Racamulto and offers several historical and religious sights. Especially worth seeing: The Palazzo Ducale and the parish church San Leonardo, where you can find a golden-painted statue of the Holy San Leonardo as well as precious marmoreal altars.  more...

The Palazzo dei Principi di Trabia, the Torre Civica, which is located next to the Palace and was built on the ruins of an antique tower as well as the four churches of the community belong to the main attractions of the town Sommatino.  more...

The town Sutera is situated on the slopes of the Monte San Paolino. A must-see are the church on the mountain itself, the town hall and the Church Sant’Agata as well as the Church del Carmine, where the visitor can admire a marmoreal statue of the Madonna del Soccorso.  more...
